This is a love poem to Happiness,
Because dear Happiness,
I love you.
I love the way you make me feel
When you look my way,
Unleashing the cage of butterflies
And giving reason to my smile,
Because dear Happiness,
I don’t need a better reason to smile
Than you.
Those nights,
Dear Happiness,
Those nights when you find me alone,
You take me to my albums of photos,
My piles of memories,
And my clips of art,
All created by you.
And I owe you.
You gave me my birth name.
You gave me my eyes
My mouth
And my toes.
You even gave me my crooked nose
Which I do thank you for
Because without it I would not be able to smell you in spring
And have you turn it red in winter.
Happiness,
I love finding you under some old socks,
Or in my locker.
I love it when you are in kitchen
I love it when you are
Snuggled in the corner fireplace
Spitting out warm embers around me
Keeping me safe.
I love seeing you next to
A coffee stained mug
And an empty gallon of milk.
I love it when you come out of my speakers
Grabbing me lower back
Taking up my right arm
Teaching me the right steps to take.
I love the freedom you give to my body.
And what I do not do out of my love
I do out of you.
I do it all
Out of happiness.

Babydoll,
I love this piece. Especially after hearing you read it at the open mic. I would just take a look at the line breaks. I think you could make it even more interesting.
This is a very sweet and touching poem. The concept of happiness shaping a face is truly original.
you read this at the open mic (: i loved it then and i continue to love it now. bravo!
I really love this poem. Reading it now and hearing it in your own voice at open mic brings me even closer to it. Your concept of happiness is awesome.
